Ok basically to cut a long story short our d16 dohc Honda engine is smoking, a lot. We already know this is a serious problem and will require a new engine. We have consider rebuilding the engine. And have also considering just replacing the head on the chance of it being valve guides. DOES ANYONE KNOW of any specialists who deal with Honda/rover engines who we could buy one from. Anyone with any useful info on this engine rebuild would be grateful. And finally we have kind of decided against replacing the existing head because everyone we have phoned wont supply a recon head alone.
Please any help is gratefully appreciated

What colour is the smoke,if its white/pale blue and using alot of coolant, may just be head gasket failure,if the d series has a common engine fault its this.usually down to corrosion of the alloy head. But most times can be repaired.
no it is definatly buring oil, and it aint the head gasket. it aint using any water and im puttin 1pint of oil in every two days. i think thats say enough lol. so anyone know ne who could supply with relevant gear. thanks
I have the same problem with my d16 dohc Honda engine, Ive tested the copression, it was gauge to 12,4 bar on cylinder nr 4, so i'm going to replace the engien, my old engien has high mileage 260000km (161600 miles)..
How is your mileage?
Sorry for bad English, im Norwegian :P
we have done a compression test too, spark plug number 1 keep oiling up whilst other 3 look brand new. our engine has done 150,000 miles. so i think its new engine time ye? does ne one know of a good supplier?!
