just caught busimess news on news 24 gm to shed 30000 jobs and to close up to 9 factories puts thing into perspective about the state of the car industry worldwide

Its not exactly the end of the world though. If BL had done the same in the late 60's/early 70's, think how different things might have been. With modern production techniques and automation levels, massive amounts of factories staffed with legions of workers are no longer necessary to maintain a large presence in the worldwide auto industry. This sort of rationalization is exactly what GM should have done years ago, and probably would have if the unions had allowed it.

If Nanjing have any cash they should offer to take Buick off GM's hands. They could then ship MG's through US dealers, make some Buicks in China, some in the US and then platform share......
