lack of compression

Posted 12-02-2015 at 09:28 by bobcarrott

Hi, My rover 45 has been brilliant upto now.It had its head done @ 40000 and has now done 70000. Suddenly, out of the blue, its started to back fire. It pulls away great when cold and no problem starting, but soon as its warm..starts back fireing and kangaroos. Plugged in analyser comes back No.4 cylinder power train, take out plug..very sooty, did a compression test.and its 2.5 bar below the other three cylinders. Any idea would be helpful,Regards.
