Back in a ZR!

Good morning all! After an absence of just on two years I'm back in a diesel zed. This is my third now, and so far my most pleasing.
The other two were bought as standard cars, but then were improved by fitting sdi's and a couple of other bits to keep me smiling ?
The latest one however, as a complete and unexpected bonus is not only a + model, but has already had the following done by a previous owner:

sdi's
mafam digi booster
k&n panel filter
decat
custom rear silencer
avo springs
boost gauge - though not fitted properly
zr 160 front brakes
window tints
reidy remap

I can't stop grinning when I'm out in him! The body work is very tired in places, with the odd bubble of rust, but nothing that can't be sorted. The alloys are bk racing and truly hideous, so will be replaced sooner rather than later.
So if you see a bright yellow zr out and about in the Dorset area with a grinning loon behind the wheel then feel free to give me a little wave!

It really is good to be back.

Nice one mate. I'm moving a lot further away from my work and until I find out how good my 160 is at doing 70 odd miles each day I keep thinking about getting a diesel to make my pocket, and the misses... happy.
What's it like on juice with all the engine mods?

Hey bud, I'm in the same boat as you.. I'm currently travelling about 300 miles a week on a new contract, and it worked out cheaper to buy, tax and insure the zr than to chug along in my L200 for the next year!

I'd expect your 160 won't be too bad if you aren't thrashing it, but the diesel will be quicker and more economical for sure.

So far I'd estimate I'm getting about 50-55mpg - roughly calculated anyway. Thats with a completely failed maf, and it's pretty much exactly what my last two achieved.
I'm keeping my speed at or below the limit, with the occasional blast

If I plod along at 60 then it's not too bad on juice, when I do 70 it just eats it, trouble is that 10 mph slower seems to make a lot of difference in overall commute time.
The 160 gets about 30-35mpg if I drive normally. Not sure what it will be if I just drive like a granny but then what's the fun in that...
