he doesnt want to part ex his 05 plate ZS, the thing is i like his firefrost red ZS. i have done a climate control conversion, renault rear light with map lights, recent full cat back s/steel longlife system, fitted rear bumer with parking sensors last week and i am doing new bushes next week and then there are 4 new Kuhmo ecsta tyres and mot going on it. i fitted heaters in front seats and we had a new screen last year. so i know the car and al the belts and water pump are done. its straight and original and doesnt use any oil or water. so i am tempted to have that and sell my x ower zs for him to have the money. oh dear what to do lol.

I am sure that this subject has been discussed before, I drove "the beast" a modified lowered ZR 1.4 home on Thursday evening and parked as usual outside of the house, I took my ZT to work on Friday so the ZR was left at home, I have both sets of keys on one ring so no-one touched it, I went to use it today but the key fob would not unlock the doors when I opened the car with the key and tried to start it the immobiliser just kept on beeping and she would not turn over, I tried the technique of unlocking the drivers door and pressing the lock some 12 to 14 times to sync the fob and car, the car locked just once but will not unlock and then will not lock again, can anyone throw some light on this please as I need to use the car.

Thanks in advance

Only tried SRP for the first time today as I had an hour or so spare coz it was raining and I had a couple of bottles given to me, inside the garage, out of the sun and not even that warm - Have to say it's good stuff and went on (and off) really well - giving a great shine.

Massive thank you to John for hosting a remapping session at his very nice house. Top bloke who obviously loves his MG/Rovers! ;)

Nice to meet Mark from Z&F even if he did rock up in a Boxster!!

So; my beloved 1.6 got treated today to a custom remap. Mark said he was recently at a meet where he tweaked an otherwise standard remap to suit a guy who was racing a 1.6 and thought it would suit mine. I have to say the difference is more subtle than I thought it would be (mainly as I have an over-active imagination!) but a difference nonetheless. I noticed a definite improvement on low and midrange revs, for example, if cruising in 5th the car would respond better which I am sure will result in fewer changes.

I didn't really put my foot down as I was on a bit of an economy run back from Wiltshire to Exeter which brings me to my next point....

It will be too early to tell the MPG improvement now, but what I can say is I had done 350(ish) miles (from a full tank) when I got to John's house in Wiltshire. It is 88.1 miles back to my place from there so it was pushing it a bit but given that fuel was about 5p/litre cheaper in Exeter I was going to give it a go! I frequently do economy runs and today the fuel light didn't even flicker until the 417th mile! I ended up filling up in Exeter (1.29 p/l) and had done 443 miles to that tank! I worked out on fuelly that that tank was 42.2 MPG, the best I had until today was 40.1

So, next tank I am expecting to be better simply because the remap only had 88.1 miles to improve things by 2.1 MPG so over the course of a full tank I think I should be looking, potentially, at around 45+ MPG. Pretty good I think you'll agree!

Again, if johnandchris and Mark from Z&F read this then many thanks :D:D

Last year as some of you might now i, like so may other people had to replace the head gasket on my TF. The last time i had a catastrophic failure with all the coolant being dumped into the oil. Thankfully i stopped the car before it overheated.

Whilst under the car today i noticed a drip of coolant on the wire to the oil temp sensor. Had a hunt around and i can see staining on the side of the block, thats the back of the block closest to the front of the car. It seems to be coming from the gasket, ie between the block and the head. Rather odd though as no milkiness /mayo in the oil, or in the coolant. Also i dont seem to be losing any coolant. Am wondering if the staining is from when i did the gasket before. Have cleaned that up to see if it returns. i cant seem to find any other leak... but why the drip. I took it for a long run and the drip is back !!!! Please not another HGF.. Could it just be the stretch bolts need a re tighten ??
