No need for Main Dealer on this one!!

Guys

There is no need to go to main dealer on this one. Most locksmiths will have either an AD100 or MVP or other programming device to sync new remotes to your system. 40 call out sounds about right although i supply and programme new remotes for 90 all in in the Southend area.

The key fobs are renown for breaking down and invariably it is not the batttery but a circuit board fault.

Once in the disarmed state you can overide the immobiliser even easier by cutting wire to pin 13 of the ECU. This is the wire that receives the signal from the immobiliser unit to arm and disarm. Remember though that this wire can only be cut in the unarmed state. This wire will need to see a signal from the immobiliser to disarm first.

alarm problem

CAn anyone help? I'm having a problem with my alarm on 54plate mgzs. It goes off every time its locked! I don't have a manual so can't check up on it but have taken it to 2 garages and they seem to think its a faulty alarm unit!! Would resetting the EKA code help this and how do I know what it is without the manual??

The EKA code is an emergency override if your keyfob stops working. I think your problem is probably related to a sensor fault, for example the bonnet open sensor, or another one.

I don't know much about alarm problems, other than that other people have had similar problems with facelift models (after 2003).

You could try searching the 45/ZS forum to find out some more.

This just worked for me too. Just bought a '96 Rover 214 Si without the EKA code, got the code from a Rover parts place in Manchester, and it wasn't working.

Made the changes above, it works a treat. Thanks a lot!

Great stuff. This is the kind of knowledge that only MG Rover dealers have, not something you get if you buy a code on EBay. I'm happy to have paid a few quid more to learn that little titbit, and been able to share it with others on here.

EKA Code - Correct(?) but car wont start

Hello,
This seems an excellent forum.. I've got an EKA code that I'm trying to use for the first time following a fob failure for an MG F. Following advice I've found that the car horn beeps once if I follow my handbook advice, but by trying at the start holding for 5 secs and adding 1 number to the 2nd and 4th numbers the car horn DOESN'T BEEP and the red alarm light goes off.

BUT.. As soon as I open the door the alarm light flashes and if I try the engine I get the alarm sound and light on.

I read something about waiting for 10minutes. Do I need to use the EKA Code and then wait 10 minutes before opening the door or does anyone have any other advice.. It almost seems like the "entry" alarm is being triggered and not the engine immobilzer.

Any thoughts?

I like it seems everyone else is suffering the Eka nightmare.

I bought my car this week (2005 Trophy SE) with no keys or fob (stolen recovered) but I do have the Eka/Radio codes etc, so I changed the locks/ignition and went to use the Eka code but the first time I locked the car with the key it armed the alarm.

Now i'm not sure if its just because the battery was flattened but every time I connect the battery the alarm sounds and of course without the fob I cannot disarm it, I am assuming theres a way with the key/Eka code but it wont let me input the code with the alarm sounding. How do I reset the alarm??

There must be a solution? I want to get the car running now (which of course I still havent heard run, or even know if it does run!) and cant wait for the fob to turn up.

Any help gratefully appreciated

I'm now at the end of my tether, been at it all afternoon with the alarm blazing in my ear trying to enter this stupid code.

I have tried everything as suggested above and the furthest I have got is a couple of beeps of the horn as I am halfway through entering the code (is this a good thing or bad?) I presume its cause the code has gone in incorrect??

All I find is when I hold the key to lock for 5 seconds it sets the alarm off, can the code be put in with the alarm going? I presume it can cause the whole point of it is that its used when the fob is not available so how else do you shut the alarm off.

Anyway, the best I have got so far is to shut the alarm off with the code. I presume so anyway cause I have done it a few times where the alarm stops and the indicators flash but when I open the door (even after leaving for 10 mins) the imobiliser is still on. So when I try the code again as soon as I lock the door it puts the alarm back on and I'm back to square one.

Really really frustrated now

Anyone have any ideas???

Phew! panic over after trying every combination possible i've sussed it.

Managed to get it started, had to wait 10 minutes before opening door once the code had shut the alarm off.

Only problem now is when I locked the car it has re-armed the alarm and imobiliser but I can live with that for now until I get a fob, at least I can start the car and move it about etc if need be!

EKA code

So what do I do if I don't know my EKA code?! I bought my 1994 Rover 214 2nd hand and, as far as I know, I didn't get any codes with it! Am asking because my car is immobilised at the moment, and wondering if this is the problem - as you can tell I don't know anything about cars!!)

Ok, so my fob is being a PITA.

I entered the EKA, it seemed to have worked - the alarm was disabled and I can get in. Central locking didn't activate though.

But the issue really is that even though the alarm is disabled, the immobiliser still won't let me start the car. This is an S reg, so it should be pre-10minutes waiting time right....

What I did:

Following guide entered EKA
Unlocked door
Got in
Turned ignition, beeping sound.

Right, thought it might be something to do with the code so +1 to the 2nd and 4th digits. Nothing.

The alarm is disabled, but it is still immobilised!?

What gives.

I think unlocking the door normally with the key disables the alarm, so you're probably not entering the EKA correctly, or your lock is loose and not registering it properly.
