Hi Denis; what's the interest in stainless fasteners? I've run up against the galling problem a lot over the years - may be able to offer some suggestions

I'm sure you'll be fine - which car is it?
On anything with a PG1, it's not too bad of a job to be honest, you just need several trolley jacks to be able to move the gearbox when needed, and support the engine, and also a lot of patience while you remove ancilliaries from the engine bay.

Once you've moved the necessary bits such as engine undertray, battery and tray, air filter assembly etc, you need to remove most of the suspension components from the passenger side to make removal easier (if Rover engined of course). Removal of the hub itself, lower arm and shock absorber assembly etc makes the job SO much easier.

Finally, drain the geabox oil, remove the mounting bolts (of course after taking both driveshafts out!) and away she comes.

Refitting is the reversal of removal as they say

Get a Haynes, it's all in there in great detail.
