Oil leaks are a nuisance and often quite difficult to track down. The Rover 214 began to need top-ups in-between the annual oil changes, and on my pre MOT inspection I found out why; oil all over the lower half of the engine.

It really looked like a head-gasket failure, but there was not the usual loss of coolant associated with HGF on the K-series. I did...

For some time my MG ZS alarm had been misbehaving going off randomly (even whilst driving along!). I suspected the sounder, as these tend to ingress water. I had previously had it replaced under warranty with a new one about 5 years ago. The sounder is located under the coolant reservoir:

Had a problem with the rear windscreen demister not turning off and was a bit concerned as it would drain the battery when it gets colder if I left it as it was. Posted a question in the R200 area and was advised 'check tailgate loom',. Sure enough:

I'd fixed it in the past, but the wires had broken again. I fixed it again (hopefully better)...

A reliable year for the ZS - so nothing to post on here for a while about it. But time for a service and the dreaded MOT. as well as the normal service, the brake discs were in a poor state, and attracted an advisory on last year's MOT so I decided to change them all, and change the pads and paint the calipers whilst I was at it. As there are plenty of good guides on here already, so I'll just post a few pics of what I did...
