Hi gnu, Thanks for the reply. I was trying to avoid the Rimmers shipping cost. There are a couple more local aftermarket possibilities I can check out for correct fitment but they are rather expensive. Oh well. Its just not a common item here. Cheers, Paul

Hi Paul, I use Bosch 0450 905 911 fuel filters on the k. Haven't used the brands you named. If you have to get it shipped overseas maybe worth getting the rimmers one. I would have thought they would be available in country somewhere though?

Hi gnu, I was just looking at your K16 fuel filter replacement how to post. Can't seem to get the correct fuel filter in NZ and was going to buy one off eBay. I saw 2 that are fairly cheap, cheaper than the WJN101192 from Rimmer Borthers anyway. One is a Reisse the other is a Comline EFF024. Have you used either of those before? I just want to know for sure it is the correct aftermarket part before I buy one and have it shipped to NZ. Cheers, Paul

Oil leaks are a nuisance and often quite difficult to track down. The Rover 214 began to need top-ups in-between the annual oil changes, and on my pre MOT inspection I found out why; oil all over the lower half of the engine.

It really looked like a head-gasket failure, but there was not the usual loss of coolant associated with HGF on the K-series. I did...

For some time my MG ZS alarm had been misbehaving – going off randomly (even whilst driving along!). I suspected the sounder, as these tend to ingress water. I had previously had it replaced under warranty with a new one about 5 years ago. The sounder is located under the coolant reservoir:

I took it out (with the car battery disconnected and wearing ear defenders)...

A few months ago the Rover 214’s alarm started randomly going off after the car was locked and left. This was a little embarrassing, especially in the small hours of the morning. I hadn’t had any trouble with the alarm before, despite the cars age. The car battery was fine, so I started fault finding by doing the easy stuff first:

Firstly, I tested the movement sensor in the passenger compartment was not faulty by at locking with the key (which doesn’t activate it) – this made no difference...

Had a problem with the rear windscreen demister not turning off and was a bit concerned as it would drain the battery when it gets colder if I left it as it was. Posted a question in the R200 area and was advised 'check tailgate loom',. Sure enough:

I'd fixed it in the past, but the wires had broken again. I fixed it again (hopefully better)...

A reliable year for the ZS - so nothing to post on here for a while about it. But time for a service and the dreaded MOT. as well as the normal service, the brake discs were in a poor state, and attracted an advisory on last year's MOT so I decided to change them all, and change the pads and paint the calipers whilst I was at it. As there are plenty of good guides on here already, so I'll just post a few pics of what I did...
