Hi

Yes, it's the old Fawley Pick Up, coming along nicely - still early days though.

Some brilliant Metro photos posted

My first Metro experience was borrowing my Father-in-laws 1989 MG Metro in red for a couple of months when I was in between cars then hiring one of the early K series Metros in the Isle of Man for a week, I was so impressed with that the I wanted to buy one when I got home but my wife wasn't too keen

Yeah, I'd agree with the bi-metallic thing, but from what I can remeber that's an internal component that gives fine adjustment of the jet according to temperature.

I still don't think that Mettys ever had auto-choke control - only an old fashioned lever that you pulled-out on the dash by hand.

That's an odd question bearing in mind you have replied to my journal!?!

I bought mine because I said it would be easy to make a genuinely fast Metro on the standing quarter mile (try reading the progress thread instead of simply looking at the pretty pictures in future).

The other 2 do not belong to me, they are from the 'Family stable' as I clearly put on the post.

Again, I don't hate them, I just don't hold a car in a false light. Now bearing in mind I have probably spent a LOT more than 99.9% of existing Metro owners on having what I deem to be the best example in the country then I am more than within my rights to say what is bad about the car, because if it was all amazing to start with I wouldn't have had to spend a penny on it since would I?

In Holland we call them the Rover 100. We use the name Metro for the older models with the a-serie engines.

bar the UK & Malta, I think everywhere else the K-series ones are called 100s

But great line up of dutch GTi's.

I went to Holland and saw loads of Rover's there, very suprised, no metros though.

That is exaclty what my friend said. He knows im into rovers, so when he went there he looked out for them, and he saw not one Metro in France,Belgium or Holland.

Metros are rare in Holland. Especially the GTI. VVC Metros are even more unique. I think there are about 5 here.

Wow! so were Rover marketing them as the 100 when that model was first launched in the early 90's? what does it say on the back? Metro or 100?

Yep, Just said, Rover where the Metro was and the engine size on the right.
Some export models the spec is higher for the same letters on the back. Alot more get e/w and rear opening quater windows and some air con or electric sunroofs
