Front Brake Discs and Pads WTF?!?!

Hey, got an MG6 TSE GT DTi on a 13 plate. Does anybody know where to get brake discs and pads for it? Local Autoparts have the 284mm discs in but can only get the rear pads. My car has the 296mm discs. After phoning my local dealer and getting absolutely nowhere I ended up dropping an email to head office to ask them. Finally got my local dealer to phone me back and told me that the pads are 70+VAT and the discs are 102.40+VAT!!!! I can only presume that I am part of some sick joke. MG honestly expect me to pay over 200 to replace my front discs and pads?!? Does anybody know of anywhere cheaper I can get these or if there are compatible discs/pads for this machine? The same with the price of a service. The 3 year service is 148+VAT and the 4 year service is 332+VAT!!! Any help would be appreciated before my brakes fail completely!! Haha!!

Looks like my local dealer has some.

Strangely enough it looks like my local MG dealer that is selling them.

Also cheaper Mintex pads which are still excellent quality.

Cant find any 296mm discs on ebay only the 284mm ones

I would check that they are the correct ones for your car befor buying though.

I have Mintex pads and Brembo discs on my ZR, just as good as genuine, if not better.

Are MG6 parts generally expensive as there is not much of a population of the cars to supply?

200+ is taking the **** even for a genuine set of discs and pads.

Anyone would think they were ceramic ones.

May be worth dropping one of the manufacturers, like EBC, Mintex or Brembo an email. You never know. I would certainly entrust my car to EBC or Mintex. The Brembo discs i have are brilliant and well worth the money.

The petrol MG6 has 284 front discs. They are the same as the ZT and some BMW, equivalent pads and discs are available from many sources. (as are the rear discs, pads and shoes)

It is also possible to fit 330 front discs and pads from the ZTT and 330 bm's on a 6TSE petrol with 18' wheels. I do not know if they can be fitted on 6's with smaller wheels.

In their infinate wisdom MG decided to fit slightly larger front discs to diesel 6's . I do not know of any other car manufacturer who uses a similar size of disc.

As the facelift diesel only MG6 uses smaller wheels than the original 6TSE as standard I doubt whether ZT/BM 330 front discs could be fitted without using larger diameter wheels.

I cant see why you think those prices are a joke not much different than any other dealer for late car parts. Landrover charge 260 +vat just for pads thats just dealers im afraid
