The guy who did those spent a lot of time and money doing them. Its all custom work. And even then i dont think they look that good imho.

Look on ebay as there are often MkII ones for sale on there.

Angel Eye headlamps are available for both Mk2 and Mk3 on eBay.

Someone on here bought some and was very 'not' impressed with them - which is a bit of a shame, but saves me a bit of wedge

Droog's were, as someone has said, a complete custom job with the inherent expense and grief.

Oh, and if the lamps come apart it is likely down to a poor seal when they are put back together after the plexi rings have been fitted.

It's no rumour - although it's slightly incorrect.

I have Mk2 200 angel eyes and have been dissing them since I bought them, but evidently people don't use the search facility to find out my experiences on just how CRAP they really are!

The halo rings in these all-in-one units are held in with glue. Not super glue or epoxy or something decent, but hot-melt glue from a glue gun.

Now the characteristics of this glue are that it melts when it gets hot.

Remember what sorta weather we've been having this year?

Sunlight + reflective lens + hot melt glue = nightmare.

You can see how stupidly short sighted this is, and I am not impressed, despite the fact the halo rings were glued in with random spacing, so that the left and right headlights don't match.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. And this isn't including the wiring headache either!

AVOID PLEASE. I'M NOT KIDDING!

Thats what my plan is....hopefully.

That then leaves other problems, such as the fact that the angel eyes are only visible at full-nighttime, by which time you need to have your dipped beam on anyway, which blinds them out.

Also the wiring mess that ensues as well.

Add to this the fact that I shouldn't have any problems with this whatsoever! But because of the crappy build quality I do.

On a side note, the base headlamp units they use to modify are actually rather nice! They have clearer lenses than the OEM units, so look a little more modern.

I did have a picture of them when they were brand new, but the ******* who ran the place where I had them hosted shut down, taking the pictures with it.

Haven't been bothered to take new ones cos they just look pants as I haven't been able to fix them yet.

No wiring diagrams. No instructions that tell you what wire goes where. It's all DIY I'm afraid.

Hot melt glue

That was what I tried first of all when I built mine, and just like it says on the tin, it melts when it gets hot. So the heat from the halogen bulbs melted it let alone the heat from the sun in a nice enclosed space like the lamp.

Took me 6 attempts to get them the way they are now and they are now 100% reliable and I have run them for over a year now without a problem.

The initial problems was using some 'cheap' rings from eGay. These are also sold in quite a few other web sites as well but they have the LED's embedded in the acrylic rings. Acrylic is very good at insulating and when it gets hot, it stays hot for a long time and the heat builds. This heat build up was what was destroying the LED's.

The set I have now have the LED's in seperate holders which means IF they pack up then they can be changed individually or even have different colours fitted. The American company even marketed a set that you could cycle through different colours. Just wish they had told me that at the time

I have also looked at changing the ones I have now for some Cold Cathode rings which are very bright but quite thin (and fragile)

What does look cool is if these rings are fitted concentrically but that would cost around £400 for a set of 8

Anyway, I have rambled enough about this now and in the past. If anyone wants any help or advice to avoid the mistakes and pitfalls I fell into I am only too willing
