I'm not happy about the new password stipulations, its stupid, just let me
choose my own f#####g pasword i'm not a f#####g child !

You HAVE to have an upper case letter: WHY ?
You have to have a symbol: What the actual f### ???, new one on me this !

REMOVE THE PASSWORD STIPULATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!

Upper case and a symbol tend to be standard requirement these days, although some may say a slight overkill for a forum.

Slight? It's rediculous!

My current password I'm sure is far less secure than my old one which I've been using for 10 years without any issues. No one would ever guess my old password.

Because of the silly requirements now I cannot think of something meaningful to me which includes upper case, lower case, a symbol and a number and be at least 10 characters. As a result I've picked a very simple choice of characters, which I can remember and not have to make a note of. A much less secure password than before IMO.

The fact that the password must keep changing is just going to make it even harder for users. The forums are becoming more unappealing as time goes on. I can see things becoming even more quiet around here which is a shame.

Well after god knows how many attempts and days waiting for an email that never arrived I finally gave up and registered as a new user.

So here I am a fresh arrival with zero previous posts and no long term membership.

Agree, with previous posts My earlier password was a combination of numbers and letters that meant something to me, now if my computer can't remember my new password (I have trouble with my four digit Visa pin code) then I'll have to re-register all over again. Guess we'll be seeing lots of "new arrivals".

Yes but as that email address dated back to the time of first registration it wasn't the one I currently use, which I explained in the message(s) I sent requesting a new password (unread?). I am obviously not alone in not updating the registered email address. Had we been given warning of this forced action perhaps we members could have acted and updated our contact information.

Yesterday evening in my tired and frustrated state, I even managed to delete all the passwords held within Safari. Such joy!

To sum up this disruption has not been at all welcome and if you plan on doing this annually then I suspect many members will go elsewhere.

Why is my account not becoming active, even after re-registering under another name ( Mike T to Mike T2)?

Send a message via MSN to Dakta
Well amazon today kindly changed my password on my behalf without warning due to a breach that goes unnamed but was probably the verticalscope affair.

Bit of a faff, just hope they don't mind me not going for one with ten letters, a capital letter, a small letter, a number and a symbol all in one go

Not too concerned about the security aspect, dakta is, after all, an alias. Boils down to nothing more than an automotive geek

Many thanks, back as old self.

Understand from Roverlike that even you admin were not told about this forced action. If you have contact with the owners please tell them of the displeasure of the members (and I suspect the admin team).

Thanks again for your patience.

Can you update your post code and date of birth in your new Ruby 2 account in order for us to be sure it is the same as in Ruby Murray account?

Hey All,

We can revisit the criteria for passwords later. Right now we need to find a way to ensure users password are reset, and that they are harder to crack. Its the law, unfortunately when you report a data breach.

Most users passwords were not cracked, but if you use a simple password like any work that is in a dictionary or a persons name, you may even add numbers to it. There is tuns of free software out there that can crack that password, they don't need out encryption.

Like i said we can revisit the criteria, but for now we need to get the resets done and help users who can not gain access. Then we can talk about changing the criteria.
