283 was last December's total. With the GS they should hope to improve on that so saying 300.

Sales increased pretty much every month compared to 2015, so I will go for 290

Would take total UK sales nicely over 4000 for 2016.

It must be at least +10%, otherwise we will have a new discussion "MG struggles to sell cars (and noone cares that year was +30%)".

So my guess is 311.

The only figure we have on car sales is MG Sales Centre's latest accounts which show sales down by a quarter. I suspect this is because of the end of bulk sales to car rental companies and not typical of the network.
Vehicle registration figures are different and are more an indication of future sales.

MG isn't the only one company which sells cars to rental companies, i don't that they are doing something different or bad camparing with them.

I think you misread my post. I said that sales were down 25% at the MG Sales Centre and suggested this was because MG has stopped supplying car rental companies. That's probably no bad thing as such business can be loss-making/ultra-low margin work.

December was indeed 367 - UP from 283 in December 2015
YTD 4192 is UP from 3152 in 2015 or a 32.99% increase

Very interesting, competitive market, TOP3 brands dropped by -7%, while all market grew by 2%. This means that customers decided to buy 110k more cars from other manufacturers, from MG also.

Cracking result in a normally slow month.

It only averages out at around 5 cars per dealership. For a dealership to only sell 5 cars in an entire month is, quite frankly, very poor.

Most car companies make extensive use of 'pre-registration' to meet targets. I wonder where MG sits on that.

It is important to remember that the figures whether up or down are for registrations and not sales. Manufacturers can influence registrations by choosing to pre-register themselves or via their dealer networks. Or indeed they can choose not to on a particular month and registration levels might show a fall. I don't know if MG pre-register or not and if so how often.

So the title of the thread is accurate but care is needed if you want a correlation between registrations and sales.

Most of that sits on Arnold Clarke's forecourt, just as it did previously with Motorpoint (and others). These cars are then sold as 'pre reg, delivery mileage' for substantially below 'new' price.

Funny how the same old members always find negatives from positive news. I was hoping they had made New year's resolution to stay on their own MG Motor hating forum!!!!!
