I'll go for 400.
Figures will be released by SMMT on Monday 6th February.

Depressed month with nobody being in too much mood for a new car post-christmas means I'm saying 296.

New reg is 1st March, but Jan is usually quite a good month because buyers hang on for the 'new year'

Last year was 323, so I will go for 345

Last year January was the third slowest month for the overall total. Only February and August (the months immediately before each plate change) had a lower total.

I just looked at MG sales for last year. January was very good. Only three months with better figures

Isn't that because it was the last month of their scrappage offer of the time which took 2,000 off the price of an MG3? They've brought it back a few times since but it's not currently on.

So, MG slumped by over a third to 205 registrations. LondonMG said "fewer than 200" which is the closest.
I'm quite shocked. The headline on the FT reads "UK car registrations surge to 12-year high" so I was expecting my prediction of 400 registrations may be close. How wrong I was! (Google this headline to read the full article)

Thats a pitiful figure. down 34% on last years figures in a rising market.
Ford, in comparison, sold 22,770 odd cars.

Even allowing for some variation between the best and the worst performers, if you divide that figure between the number of dealers remaining in the network, that's a huge operating loss for the month.

Something like just under three cars per dealer, 2.8.

I appreciate that it is not sales but registrations but I would be interested to hear Mirtininkas's view on January's registrations.

I'll be unsurprised if Mirtininkas's view will be that it's somehow all my fault.
