Any chance that i can manual adjustment the idle on my rover 200 SI 1.4 103 hp ?
atm stays perfect at 1000 rpm once the engine is warm up , everything works perfect on the car not a single problem... don`t say tester i know must be a way to manually adjustment but i don`t know where to start
The idle is controlled by the ECU there is NO manual adjustment. Are you sure it needs adjusting? I thought my tickover was high but found the rev counter was reading high. The rev counter was reading 950rpm but on a scanner it was idling at just over 820rpm.
As far as I'm concerned, it is normal for the engine to Idle at higher RPM when cold. This is due to the fact that in cold condition the gasoline doesn't vaporize like it does in warm condition (operating temperature). Therefore, the ECU keeps the RPM higher when cold and gradually goes back to normal when reaching the operating temperature.(700-850)
Hope this helps. If I'm wrong, please do correct me.
@david.c,i ques i need to use a scanner to find more about this... @crimy,when engine reaching the operating temperature drop to 1000 rpm , but normal is 850 .
Idle speed is usually something like 1000-1200rpm when the engine is cold and 850rpm when the engine is hot. As said it is electronically controlled so no physical way to adjust it. You can adjust it electronically but you should never need to.
