Passenger electric window Fault

Hi,

I am the new owner of a 2005 Rover 25 GSI.

There is one issue with the car though, there is a fault with the passenger electric window.

The person I bought it off has said that the window went down, and then wouldn't go up again. The only way he could get it to go back up was by reversing the polarity of the wires on the window motor.

After doing some research, I at first thought this would be a BCU fault. However after looking some more, it seems that this usually affects the drivers window? Which is working normally.

As I'm new to these cars I don't really have a clue! But I want to be able to use the passenger window. Any ideas what the problem will be?

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum

Passenger window is not controlled by BCU.
Problem could be in power (fuse), window switch itself, connection on multiplug, wiring or motor.

If the window is back in position with reversing polarity on motor wires, that might indicate motor, wiring and power are fine, but problem might be in switch. Worth to check the switch with multimeter if it is working as it should.

On a 2005 25/ZR (which have the Pektron SCU) the drivers window failing to work in one or both directions is almost certainly the relay in the SCU which has failed. Accessing the SCU (on the front bulkhead behind the heater ducting) is the most difficult part; soldering a new relay onto the pcb is straightforward.

This may help with changing that relay in the SCU:
