Rover 25 vvc speedo dead

My 1999 non abs rover 25 with a 160 engine is has developed a problem, the revs and speedo have decided to stop working but the temp and fuel gauge still works, ive tried 3 sets of clocks that i know work and still its the same. so im thinking it may be the sensor in the gearbox. any ideas?

its a brm box if thats any help

thank you!

There are a couple of fuses dotted about, one for the speedo transducer and another one for the instrument cluster so I would start there.
As far as I can remember the speedo gets its signal from a transducer in the gearbox and the rev counter gets its signal from the ecu which in turn gets its signal from the alternator.
Did both gauges stop working together?

Fuse 1 in the engine bay has something to do with the speedo.
Fuse 1 in the passenger fuse box does the instrument cluster, also fuse 3 says instrument and interior lights.
I'd start there, hope it's a little help.

Doesn't the car have a speedo cable, I thought '99 would have made it pre digital speedo, the clue will be in the milometer, is that digital or analogue?
