Sorry for late reply, didn't go well was only on rollers for 40mins or so engine wasn't performing right so we knocked it on head. Checked what we could I.e compression, fuel pressure etc but all was ok. Mapper things cam timing is out (which I didn't do as didn't have a digital dti, brackets etc) Ive had to have a break from it tbh cant even bear to look at it at the minute really not sure if I'm going to continue with it as of yet

No... mate you've come too far for any negativity have a break from it for now if it's only cam timing I would book a r/r down at emerald they will set up the cams and through the course of the day alter it for you if it's needed. The good thing with them they are well known for the K. I happily travel 3hrs for a session on their rollers as the support they give is second to none in my opinion. Sometimes its more productive to let some of the fine tuning be done by others. Believe me I know how disappointing a failed mapping session is when I supercharged the TF I ended up re doing the whole pipework as it wouldn't idle but the up shot was that we identified the issue. Besides I want to come down to bedford for a trackday and was hoping you'll be up for showing me around.

Agreed. I've followed this project for a while now, and you've done far too much to it just to let something silly like a timing issue to ruin the entire project. Like tonestf said, get it booked in at emerald and let them take care of it for you.

Ok right ive had a few days to clam down I bit with it and take a look to flesh. I did try to get hold of emerald because my mapper was busy a while ago. Unfortunately I had no reply from emails and phone line wouldn't connect. Any way I will say what ive done....

Checked ecu settings... All seems ok
Checked compression.... 1-200 2-200 3-210 4-220
Checked supply fuel pressure and regulated pressure... In factory specs
Checked with mapper.... No concerns with knock on rollers
Checked throttle bodies/butterflies.... Again all ok

Checked the timing via lift at DTC best I could with a standard DTI gauge.... Both seem way out I.e....

Settings on exhaust cam using lift at TDC method with the 285h cams from Piper and DVA Power.....

Piper 1.98mm
DVA 2.41mm

And mine.... 1.34mm WTF

I think I probably found the problem there and that's what the mapper thought was the case as engine wasn't responding to fuel/ignition changes.

Ok so what to do next, ive ordered a digital DTI so as to get the best reading possible if there set wrong i will pull out the engine so can get them set up myself 100% right using the timing disk etc.

Exhaust....

So exhaust is defo out, got it all set to DVA settings and ran it up engine note has completely changed and it revs up a fair bit faster so fingers crossed on the home path now....

Got the head lights sorted today, they were in such poor condition were almost completely yellow, since I wasn't planning on using it on road again I painted the lights black but after a rethink I would quite like to attend a few shows next year so thought I would try clean them up. First of used thinners' to remove paint, then a 800-1200 wet flat, cut back with mid then fine compound and a polish all done using the mop. While there I also opened them and painted the black plastic to match wheels etc....

I like that, looks mean and suits a track car. How about doing the fog surrounds too?

Finally got the out and the FIA floor bars welded in and the race seat fitted, only had a steady run out as the map needs redoing but about 4500rpm cars feels pretty quick indeed and the intake noise is amazing. Unfortunately had no idea on speed as no longer have a speedo since ABS has gone but the revs where going up quick....

Headlights look good.

Did you bung the headlights in an electric oven to crack them open ?

Just a standard oven, 15-20 minutes at 50 degrees done loads of lights that way never had any problems and avoids wrapped plastic

Yeah I did a set of Mk2 headlights a few years back and converted
them to projector HID and opened up a set of ROVER 200 bubble
lights to paint the inside trims black, was just wondering if you had
a different method but the old cool oven trick works wonders.
