Door hinge - will 2004 fit on 2002?

I have a Rover 45 52 plate early 2003 reg. Can a June 2004 s/h hinge fit? Or is that a different face lift part?

The problem is the usual play on drivers door hinges.

But on this car, what I can see is on the front drivers top hinge, the main hinge pin appears as if knocked down a touch (eg 5mm+) as if the past owners made a start and there no clip at the top of the pin. And when I take the weight of the door it seems as if there is no bush to catch the top of the pin (there is a gap all around the top of the pin) so that it wobbles onto the body of the hinge. And that gives the play and drops the door a little out of line. Not that bad at the moment. But it will get worse.

I was wondering if the best is get a s/h pair. Then make sure there is no play in the s/h hinges and when I am ready just swap them.

Door hinges do not change with year of manufacture.

Both LH & RH front doors use the same hinges.

So the best bet for replacing worn drivers door hinges is to use a set of second hand front passenger door hinges - as these have generally had much less use than the drivers door hinges.

The front hinges are the same on all years as above but all four are not the same.
The RH upper and LH lower hinge are the same part number as are the the LH upper and RH lower. So if using passenger hinge you would need the lower hinge for your driver side upper that is faulty.
Hope this helps , Bren.

Excellent help from you both.

Does anyone know if rear hinges fit on the front?

And how to find out part numbers? Some one is selling an MG Rover hinge part number bdb 460040. But do not know which model it is for.

No the rear hinges are not the same.

The Rimmer Brothers website should be able provide any part number information you require - the number you have quoted is apparently a MG F/MG TF part.
