I have a 2000 model R45 TD - the main earth cable (from battery to somewhere under engine) has broken, the RAC have done a quick fix, but its something I need to replace.
I can't find one on Rimmers (out of stock) - does anyone have any idea how long a cable I need to buy?
Very common fault this mate, it bolts to the gearbox. If you look under air filter box or remove it you can see the gearbox earth point. I changed mine a couple of years back. Have a look for a late model that's breaking and take the earth strap off it, I paid £10 but had a shed load of other parts at the same time. You can buy earth strap from eBay or try halfords or your local motor factor but you will need to measure the cable as they will ask.
run a piece of string along side it then measure the string
