ZS clock light not working.

The light on my clock in my 2002 ZS is not working, I have searched on the forums and would I be correct in thinking it must be the clock itself because the interior light is ok? (Same fuse?).

Is it easy to get to the clock to see if it is a bulb or something?

Thanks.

The Major is probably the best guy to ask on how to get to it (unless someone else has done it on a 400/45/ZS), i would have thought it could require the dashboard to come off (unless the clock pops out on it's own?)

Thanks for the quick response, if it is a case of taking the dashboard to pieces though, rather than just a few clips I think it may have to stay broken for a while

99% it is the bulb.

Unfortunately on the 400/45/ZS it is a ***** to do!

Procedure as follows.

1. remove the two screws at the back of the back part of the centre console.

2. remove plastic cover from centre console centre (under handbrake).

3. remove the 2 10mm bolts.

4. remove rear part of centre console (lift and push towards back of car, disconnect electric window switches, then lift over handbrake)

5. remove radio and radio mounting cage

6. remove screw in radio apature

7. remove heated rear window and hazard light switches

8. remove screws revealed by following 7.

9. remove two screws in centre console in footwell.

10.remove gear knob

11 remove leather gear surround (clipped in pull up from front end)

12 remove centre console (disconnect clock wiring).

13. Bulb is in the back of the clock.

14. refit is reverse of removal!

you can do it by just taking the radio out and the metal bit that holds the radio. you can then slide your hand through the hole and twist the bulb out. its tricky but you can do it. ive done it and i got big hands.

yeah, you are right. When I did it I had to change the display as I had missing segments (not good for the radio)

you might as well. its a small screw in bulb with a green (i think) back. if you could get a mirror in there first to see what your dealing with it would help. its only about 10-12mm in diameter so be very careful not to drop it.
