ZS rear silencer on a 45?

Hi all, I am going to replace the rear silencer on my mk2 1.6 45 hatchback soon. I prefer to see the pipe like on the zs. After some searching, I found I would need the mk2 hatchback silencer and obviously the bumper trim. Has anyone else done this, as the posts that I found were vague.

tail pipe

yep i did it last year. i was having a full s/steel system fitted.
you will need the alloy trim from a ZS 1.8 or 2.5 V6 as the 1.6 wasnt fitted with the trim, along with the trim you also need the 4 screws and nuts plus the rubber gasket for fitting. when you buy the parts make sure you get the correct one as hatch and saloon are different ( i have a spare trim for a saloon in the shed as i bought the incorrect trim first time ).

Thanks Bren, I'll keep my eyes peeled for the hatch trim. Just wanted to be sure that the exhaust parts would bolt up.

tail pipe

the only difference is a longer tail pipe after the silencer, the 45 and 1.6 ZS have the turned down tail pipe. i did have a diagram on A4 from when i cut my rear bumper, i will see if i can find it for you.
i cant see any trims on ebay at the mo but there are a couple of rear bumpers on there for 60 the one is damaged and has been on there for ages, you could try making them an offer on the trim, maybe worth a try.
best of luck Bren

bracket

hi again, had a thought today while down my shed. when you cut the bumper for the trim it will become floppy on the driver side, the reason for this is the Zs car with the trim have a bracket fitted to the bumper to support it and help keep it from flexing to much.
i made my own from alloy as they are no longer available from rimmers, i do have one in the shed now but wont be fitting as i already have the alloy one on the car.
this the bracket

cutting bumper using a paper template i made

tools used , saw and drill for the bolt holes

finished job

Nice car Marco. Bren I have sent you a message about the support bracket. Is there a template for the cut out or is there a mark on the inside of the bumper. I can't remember seeing one when I last removed it putting a tow bar on.
