Sterling Automotive. I have not used them, but they are highly regarded in the Mg Car Club. They have a 5-year guarantee on their improved K-Series head gaskets too:

I fully endorse "GEARBOX U.K." Specalist Transmission Engineers, Cow House Lane, Armthorpe, Doncaster DN3 3EE.
They certainly did a very professional job in replacing my Clutch and all related parts. No dramas or bull****, just good honest repair work. Seemingly, they've done quite a few 75 clutches as I had a long chat beforehand and was impressed with their '75' knowledge. The price was what one would expect to pay - they told me up front it was a five hour job. no rip off. (forget to mention - they cover both Automatic and manual transmissions)

This is the guy I used to get my Auto Trans fixed is in the Midlands...

Very helpful and has diagnostics facilities too. I have used him a couple of times. He also did my wife's Auto Box a few years ago on a car she no longer has. I was impressed then so that was why I went back to him for my R75. I wasn't disappointed.

great garage in rotherham south yorkshire

hi. my reccomendation for a great garage for your MG ROVER is

RIDGWAYS
STEVE RIDGWAY
CHESTERTON ROAD
EASTWOOD
ROTHERHAM
SOUTH YORKSHIRE
S65 1SU

TEL 01709368888

Steve is a great guy. and his staff are all mg rover/land rover trained techs who have been working on mg rovers for years and came from an ex mg rover garage. there is a friendly atmosphere in the garage and you get no bull. they are just as concerned as us in keeping our rovers on the road. ive had a few jobs done there and found the price VERY good, advice is free and they are not afraid to give it.one of the jobs i had done was a full aircon drain and regas, and this includes the lubricant that goes in with the gas, as most regasses just put in the gas and not the commpressor lubricant. the charge for that was 35+vat. and done using a state or the art snap on set up. when you call please tell them you heard of them through the forum. cheers, keith..

Thanks, guys! That's another update.

A big thanks to forum member 'comoncook' for providing the first recommended garage outside of the UK! Keep the good work up!

WE STILL NEED MORE RECOMMENDED GARAGES FOR SCOTLAND, NORTH ENGLAND, WALES, IRELAND and THE REST OF THE WORLD!!

(And I need some rep, plz... Nudge nudge, wink wink!!)

Listing of Repair Garages

Like your approach in Listing....Blue for Scotland, Yellow for Wales, Green for both North and Southern Ireland etc., but surely Holland should be protrayed as 'Orange' ?
just fine tuning

Hmmm... I was thinking of leaving everywhere outside of the UK as white, otherwise it could get very ugly!

Garage Listing

Yes, I noticed that all the titles (country) are all in white with the British Isle National sub areas in colour. excellent!
White's ok by me as it stands for Yorkshire. All kidding aside, Well done.

Thanks! That's the list updated again. Keep 'em coming, folks! Oh, and for those admin type people, what's the chance of making this a sticky?

Bump - bump- bum-pity bump.

Just thought I would bump this thread back to the top.

It would be nice if it was made a Sticky. It's a fantastic resource.

Come on guys there has to be a place in your area that you can recommend.

If Satan wants to make a post with the updated list ONLY in it, then I can make that a sticky, but I don't want this thread as a sticky as it would be kinda messy. A single post with the details in it wuld be good.

We can then close the sticky & only reopen it when Satan sends me additional garages to add to the sticky.

This way it would keep the list clean & uncluttered.

Hope that makes sense, and will help everyone.

Regards, Rob.

Hi Rob

I was going to suggest that myself. It's only info in the top post that is of interest. Maybe later we can start another thread again in case extra places come along.

What do you think?
