Smile TOAF worry ye not!

Its still ongoing, they are ironing out some bugs and they know they are going to have a rough time from some quarters.
Does it exist?
I would have to say so as I've had a little bit of it
The release is imminent so play nice.
We will all be able to spot other TOAF users on the road in the coming months as we see other cars with the 30% DRL's enabled

Seems the bugs are NEARLY sorted and they've been down the Dyno testing and adding new features.

Videos removed at TOAF request!

That top video has what looks like a VIN code changer for all the different ECU's. That's interesting if you can get any old ECU and recode it??????

Nice try, but not possible for the IPK through OBD, nor EWS.

In regards to the DDE4, this doesn't work either, it is possible with the LSM SRS, and BCU though, but only the IPK LSM and DDE4 aren't reconfigurable secondhand anyway

In the case of the LSM, there is nothing that is being done here that cannot be achieved using the BMW Scan 1.4 lead.

I looked at all ways to be able to dump the entire contents of the EWS to enable the easy programming of new keys, i.e. without having to physically remove the EWS, but no dice, the processor on board EWS3 requires to be physically hard reset in order that full reading of the memory can take place

It does look nice and easy to use, but appears to be nothing more than a conglomeration of INPA and NCS expert with Jatco and BCU tagged on.

Still it will give you hours of fun playing with the electronics with a different 10 lead

From a TOAF developer!
Quote:
VIN can change in LSM, BCU, SRS and probably can be done in the engine control modules. Between EWS, IKE, DDE / DME you can copy ZCS codes.

Used remote control you can add to the BCU by TOAF. You need a special code from the sticker which is located on the electronic board remote control.

To add a new or used transponder you have removed from the case EWS module. Then you are programming it on the table. New is a simple job. To add a used transponder, you must have a password with parent EWS module. All with separate utility - for example, "EWS EDITOR".

Yes Shawn, that quote confirms what I suspected that you can change the VIN in SRS BCU and LSM.

What cannot be done is to change the VIN in the IPK or the DDE4, as these are in secured areas in the internal eeprom fitted to the IPK and DDE, and not accessible via KKL programming protocols.

Remember all that TOAF does, is the same things you can do with BMW Scan 1.4, copying ZCS coding from EWS to IPK, and DDE4 etc etc etc.

What is interesting, and at the same time worrying is the ability to override the safety in the BCU in relation to one shot up windows.

So what I hear you say? well if you look at the drivers window seal on a car with one shot up enabled, you will see it is different to the other three window seals.

The reason for this is because the drivers window seal contains a pressure switch to stop the motor if an obstruction is encountered.

So using TOAF once it is released to hack the firmware in the BCU is not a particularly good idea.....imagine this scenario you have your grandson, or a child in any of the passenger seats, they operate the window switch while holding the glass, and up it goes and guillotines off there fingers, or worse they're hanging out of the window and operate the switch

Still sound like a sensible option to you? certainly doesn't to me

Brian

Oh and no you can't even if you have the password from the parent EWS module, use secondhand transponders.

Why not I hear you say, well yes you can copy the fixed code of the used transponder into another EWS, and even if the cyclic redundancy check is the same, the VIN number most certainly won't be, and for that reason alone the EWS will reject the transponder.

Guillotined fingers! My rear windows stop if the rubber gets too sticky and I have to pump them to close.
I want "one shot" it will have no safety concerns for me and you can always block rear window operation, if I've got TOAF then I can reset it back to factory myself anyway before selling. This is a feature the BMW owners have had for years.

The used key thing certainly is interesting because I gather by their signatures over on the Polish site this is a service that is already offered by some.

Well here we are!
Polish owners are on the TOAF Facebook page asking where it is.
The TOAF Facebook reply is this:-
Quote:
TOAF - Rover 75 / MG ZT Tool
11 hrs
Czy to już dzis ?
Is it today ?
Its gone a bit quiet on the Polish site because a lot of them already have it.Its still being revised so even if it is released today it will quickly want updates I should think.

I'm in hospital right now so haven't even got it on my laptop yet let alone plugged into my car.
Hence all the posting at 3-4am when all the screaming starts on the ward.

It seems that all who made a donation (not obligatory) via paypal have received a downloadable (via compressed file) attachment. Lots of folks seem to think that you "Never get owt fer nowt" but my understanding is that the programme would be a free resource to all who wanted it. I have always found the majority of Polish people to be extremely trustworthy, hard working, helpful and kind. (I grew up in an area with lots of Polish immigrants) so I have little doubt that all will be well with their work. It's up to you but I made a donation weeks ago and say good luck to them.

I'm still in hospital and not used mine yet but it appears the sky has not fallen and over on the Polish site there have only been a few bugs. They have a "report bug page" and its also linked from their Facebook page but when I tried it a few hours ago it didn't work.
But the main thing is:-
DO A BACKUP before you attempt to make changes!

Bug site now up:-

Looks like its general release is tomorrow Keith!

Newly posted on the "News" Tab:-
dispel doubts...

Quote:
Due to doubts from foreign forum, We would like to explain two questions:

- donation,

- chargable options.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with our point of view

1. Donation

Money from donation are designed to buy new interface, used car modules, tools which we need to improve and test our software

donations aren't a source of livelihood for the program's author.

2.Chargable options

- remotes: alternative to specialised experts. Add used remote will be about 20euro. Service on-line, You don't even have to get out of your car. Useful when your only remote gets broken or when you lost Your keys. Charge is for security reason for ex: adding own key to foreign car

- chiptuning: ECU modification based on standard ECU maps . Complete modification with higher BHP will by cost about 60euro. We are working on chiptuning which will be realized on-line using PAYPAL transaction.

But for now these two options are not available in TOAF

Probably this situation is caused by mailbox security settings. Mail sent to you with rar archive is probably blocked.

Well i acquired a copy of the 1st release of Toaf.. connects to the car instantly.. . Had a play with some features after backing up. I have turned off the rear demist when under 10 degrees. and enabled the key in ignition gong.. read all ecus etc, and checked injector imbalance. One touch up windows seems to be a non starter, as it does require the sensors to be fitted,, and to find a sensor for the passenger door is gonna be tough.. Unless there is some simple "short" fix to fool the bcu into thinking its got sensors fitted.. Still waiting for the updated copy of the software..
COLVERT likes this.
