Hi all, I'm currently considering a switch to diesel and consolidating to one car, my friend has offered me a nice Golf GT TDi which quite frankly is probably going to prove more reliable than any ZT I could get for similar money, however, I don't want a Golf, I want something bigger!
So, the main reason that I'm not getting a 320d is because I'm aware they have problems with the turbo prior to 2003, and also that they have a nasty habit of ingesting a major component (part of the inlet manifold?) and munching the engine.
My concern about the ZT is whether or not it has the same design flaws, i gather from doing a forum search that the BMW has a variable vane turbo which the ZT doesn't so I'm hoping that the turbo problem isn't carried over, but what about the other problem?
Also, I've done a lot of reading and it seems like if I get a CDTi I will likely have problems with the MAF etc. and to be honest, I don't want another car with inherent design flaws!
Any advice appreciated!
