Can anyone help decode a CD43 head unit?

I found this lovely unit just lying in the passenger foot well of a scrapyard F and I just had to give it a whirl, working or not.

I recalled a post by Dert here: What have you done to your MGF MGTF today? (Second Part) and thought it was the same head unit, from memory. Obviously, I thought it might be worth having in the interests of originality. I remember him saying:

Quote:
Sadly, the person before me had removed the original and fitted a JVC unit, the standard one, even second hand are about twice the price of the JVC unit due to it being the same as the BMW business unit. So, if any of you have one of the ones above (XQE 100) and are not using it, they are going for silly prices on fleabay
I duly paid my 15 (yes, massive amount, I know) for the unit and some other bits and bobs. I have since plugged the head unit into my F, and whilst it works, I am being asked for a 4 digit code to fully get it operative - I guess I was expecting such like.

So, does anyone here have the ability to generate a code using a Blaupunkt calculator or such like? - I've done a bit of Googling and I think I have all the required serials/VIN/model number etc - just need someone to work their magic and get the code if at all possible.

Any help getting this thing unlocked would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,
Steve.

Thanks for the link. Not wanting to sound stingy, I was hoping someone here might be able to do it for a fellow member. I don't really like having to sign up to web sites etc to get something.......

Obviously if I have no luck, I might have to bite the bullet on that one.....

Cheers mate. Here's the info on the side:

BP0263 1 8405934

S/N on the side label is 7 640 263 342 but on the label on the top it is slightly different for some reason. the last digit is a 7 and not a 2. Dunno if that helps.

It's a genuine MG unit as it still has a sticker on the LHS with the car reg and the price - 10,399.00

Update. It worked!!! - bloomin' brilliant!!!!!

She's now firmly installed and the sound is WAYYY better than the JVC head unit that was in the car when I got her. I guess I should get around to getting some better speakers now as they are all factory jobbies, I think. Suggestions welcomed.

Andy, thanks again for stepping in to help me out - you're a star mate.

I'm off now to take her for a nice top down spin in the sunshine and listen to my new unit!!

You mean the factory jobbies that were matched to the head unit?...

Haha I get where you're comin' from......

Still, whenever I've looked at the T-bar and door speakers in my car, I've thought that they don't look that good vs. some of Today's modern speakers. I know it's not about looks (obviously) but I imagine there might be better alternatives Today than what MG stuck in my car some 16 years ago

Very true. I must say, I really am impressed with the improvement in sound quality with this CD43 - even with the existing speakers. It is head and shoulders (and ears) above the previous unit I had. God knows why anyone who installed that over the factory one did not just swap it back right away. I might just stick with the speaker setup as it is right now as I fitted Mike Satur Mk1 Chrome roll hoops last year - bit of a pig to get spot on, so I don't fancy having to take them to bits to do the T-bar speakers.

Oh, I forgot to add that the previous owner of the head unit left me a little present in the form of a CD. Maybe not to everyone's taste, but Paloma Faith. Nice little surprise as I quite like her stuff........my 15 certainly was money well spent!
