Question Could you be tempted?

so was driving past a local garage and spied a mg tf on the forecourt, on the way back managed to see the number plate and thought it was worth checking out on the website, Second Hand MG TF TF 135 for sale in Bristol, Avon - Hursley Hill & SMG
it seems its a 2008 TF, I thought the TF finished in 2005 so did a bit of reading and it seems that Nanjing Automobile Group produced the TF in China from 2008, with the LE500, TF 85th Anniversary, and the TF135. in total 906 cars, if my maths is right 500x LE500, 50x 85th, so 356x TF135 so quite a rare beast.
The question is: would you be interested??? even though its made in China and "assembled" at Longbridge

Garages
The car is 2005 car that must have sat around for 3 years before being registered. I say this because of the colour of the interior and style of the wheels. It is a lot of money but I would suspect the car is unique or low numbers.

For all the love I have in these cars, I would not invest in a so high initial price..
Be aware that the amount of money I've spent in mine probably is higher than the price they are asking.

But that's all for me: I could (and will) spend more money on Gloria, but that what it is: my special, personal, unique car.

8K for an 05 car, no way, the mileage isn't even that low. Do you have anything to do with the seller? Seems like an odd first post??

Its one of those whats it worth to somebody type questions to be honest.

If it sells, it was worth the money - if it doesn't it was overpriced....

Would I pay that? no, but that's just me.

£8000 for a low, but not THAT low, mileage TF that hasn't been on the road for 4 years (tax ran out Feb 2013 and MOT Sept 2013) seems like a LOT of money to me. Has someone gold plated the engine and forgotten to mention it?

You can get a low mileage newer year model LE500's for a lot less than that,If I was interested in something newer it would deffo be an LE500 due to the limited number and potential for higher resale value, with that in mind, I prefer the F so will keep my 75th and others

From the dash, the interior and the front bumper you can tell this is a MG-Rover car (probably 2005). Quite expensive. Chinese TFs go for more money because they are newer and also have all sorts of upgrades here and there. For a Chinese TF, 8k is on the upper end of the market range, for an MG-Rover car it is rather expensive.

I'm not surprised at the price - from that Garage. I've been there to pick up spares before. They usually have a good collection of clean MG-R's, but the prices are, well, not from this planet.

No way at £8k. That's just ridiculous. If you look on eBay with highest price, there are a couple of examples that are much better, IMHO...........

It's at SMG - they have a very long history of windscreen sticker prices set at a level several times what most people would regard as the actual value of the car. This goes back well before the collapse of MG Rover, and doesn't seem to stop them selling cars. You might perhaps find their p/x valuations are similarly higher than other car dealers? and they might entertain a more flexible approach to a haggle than many lower priced dealers (who seem to have a very much "take it or leave it" attitude).

£30K for a brand new 4.6 V8 from a dealer, that's not a bad price TBH.
(plus you don't have to pay the £1k new car tax it would attract.

But it's a nine year old new car, with no manufacturer warranty on it. I cant imagine any dealer offering 3 years warranty - might be wrong though.

£30k for THAT ????? - no way. Hell would have to freeze over first. Where has it been for the last 9 years having done only 20 miles would be my first thought.

Actually, it's not a bad price............it's bloody daylight robbery. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.
