Exclamation CRITICAL UPDATE on TF Led Interior LED Lighting

HI ALL

with ref to TF Led Interior LED Lighting

i purchased a TF clock and oil temp gauge for my f to do blue led back light
any way read the attached how to and made a discovery that you don't need to put any resistors on the clock or oil gauge as they already have them on (i just traced the circuit with a DMM)
if you use LED'S with 30mA max current then you will be fine
so here is the proof

the 475 ohm resistor on the pcb for the original LEDs (clock)

LEDs fitted 3mm 30mA 30deg angle 3000mlcd

LEDs working on 13.5v supply

here is the oil gauge resistor

here is the LEDs fitted (same as the clock) and polarity of the LEDs

here is the LEDs fitted (same as the clock)

so there you have it just solder the LEDs the correct way round so no more fiddly fitting the resistor
hope this helps
mark

Unless of course you find the leds are too bright, and then you pop a resistor on

Nice - I knew you would figure it out mate!

You need to edit your picture links so the (there's a sneaky foward slash in there!)

Will reply to your PM after dinner too matey.

i work with leds ect all day so have a wide selscton to play with
you can also get lower brightness with 30mA rated ones

i have the same LEDS in red
but you need TF clocks to do it so yep ill do them for you no probs
the old F clocks will not give an even light over the face
i have tryed several ways of doing the f clocks to save buying the TF clocks
i paid 14.00 inc post for these

... and I have found that the red needle can be a little difficult to see so I have removed some of the red paint from the tip to allow the blue light to show up a bit more.

Still not great but an improvement

give me a shout I have one I dont think I need, all I want to do is back light with LED and think its pretty straightward, no needles on the instruments though as I have removed them for possible future needs

If you do manage to change the lighting of the mileage bit thought, thats the cost of the cluster ...........

Hi folks!

Can I just say that I am amazed that the ntlworld webpages are still live - I left NTL/Virgin ages ago!

I've not been around much for various reasons, but wanted to point out that I think PeteVick has a copy of my webpages on the central pages.

I'm chuffed my old guides are still sort of useful.

Bob is in for a new clutch - ouch. He is green LED at the moment, Loaky has my blueness!

Well done Mark on a great thread.
