Intermitent coolant loss

Dear all

My 2005 115 TF 1.6 is loosing coolant, but it is only doing so intermitently .
It will be fine for days then I will go out and find the header tank drained and a puddle under the engine. There is frusratingly no pattern to this it only occurs when the car has been stood usually overnight.
I can't see any obvious leak, I have hd this over a pit a checked too. However by the time I have driven it to my mate's garage wher the pit is the leak has stopped and all signs evaporated!

Any ideas???

Thanks

Jon

The list could be quite long,

split in a hose which only shows after standing

underfloor pipes

etc etc

Put a piece of cardboard under the car when you park it up and you should get a better idea of the location of the leak.

hope that helps a little

Clive

Garages
As mgw suggests - put some card under and see where the marks are. My money's on the water pump or IMG...
