Question MGF Rear Window

Hi all, im new to this and hope you can help, today at work lifted the hood on an mgf to access the engine bay to carry out cylinder head repairs, after uncliping and lifting the hood there was a cracking sound, when i looked i noticed the rear plastic window had cracked right up the middle.just wondered if i did something wrong or if this is a common fault? does anyone know where to get a replacement?

at these low temperatures it is a common fault....
The MGF Centre (www.mgfcentre.com) is one of the places to obtain a new/2nd hand one.

Its a common fault!....... A common Owners fault that is!!!....

If EVER dropping the hood in cold weather allways warm the plastic screen first, ie hairdyer or let the engine run with the heater on full so as to `soften` the thin plastic so it will fold!!..

I don't know where you'd get a replacement up there.. but it might be a good idea to unzip the rear screen, if you need to fold the hood on an MGF. It's always recommended to unzip, if you're folding the roof, but even more important in winter, when the screens so cold.
On another note, I have a friend in Wishaw

all our suggestions are a waste of time, if I read the question correctly ...

the damage was done at work so presumably to somebody else's car? A quick cheap new rear plastic will satisfy everybody. An expensive glass rear will satisfy only the 'customer'.
