MGF Ticking noise after cam belt change...HELP!

Recently I had my MGF serviced at 60K. Servicing included, cam belts and tensioners change, HGF fix, water tank cap replaced, water pump change, suspension height adjustment, the lot. Ever since, the fist time I start up the engine from cold it makes a normal sound, but once it gets warm if you start it up again you here this rattling noise (coming from the engine) the moment it fires up. Also can hear this ticking/rattling noise between 2000 to 4000 revs roughly. Any ideas for possible causes from you experts please!

Well, I've not spotted where the noise is coming from yet to tell you the truth. In any case it sounds rather difficult to me to be the injectors cause it started doing it after the cam belts change, plus that the car has only covered 60kKm, and as far as I know injectors dont fail so soon. One thing I could think of is loose belts, but I dont really know if this could be a valid case for my problem. Any ideas?

Some injectors just tick, can be from new and does not mean they are failing.

What version of K series have you got?

yep they do just tick! my metro did 160k miles and they never failed, just tapped all the while but not irritatingly. you want to check that they have not left a loose bolt somewhere.... like rubbing against the belt!

Its an 1.8 VVC engine. Does the cam belt tensioner could be causing the rattling noise if was not properly fitted or I'm completely talking rubbish?!

Isnt this a common problem with the 1.8 VVC ? Something to do with the second cam.

Take it back to the dealer who did the work and get them to check it.

Some VVC engines can have noisy mechanisms.

I would get it checked by the dealer. Ensure they changed and loctited the sprocket bolts as well as the cambelts. If these work loose, they will cause a lot of damage to the head.
