MGF Vs. Car Wash

My F is FILTHY, I gotta be somewhere at 1.30 and i dont have time to hand wash it. Anyone ever put a cabrio through a car wash?? Apart from swirls, and obviously leaks, is there any reason not to use an auto wash?

Maybe apart from the fact it could snag and rip your roof off it would probably be fine.

There are plenty of plenty of places that hand wash now.

you know like the huge signs which say, 'dont touch this' and the like, i am always tempted to do so... same with ar washes.... everyone says not to put a tf through a carwash, so i ma now intrigued and want to try it.

i cant see the roller ripping off the roof... would need to be a good yank to rip roof latches off.

but as chris mentions, there are so many illegal immigranted car wash places cropping up on every bit of unused land, you may as well use one of them.

10 mins is all you need for a quick hand wash. Light spray with hose then whizz over it with warm water & shampoo. Quick mop over with a water magnet cloth thing and voila -done

Best way to have got it washed, would've been to not log onto here and post a question about washing it - and just gone out and washed it

You can't put the car through with the soft top on but you can with the hard top on (I put mine through once but it did such a shoddy job I have always, always handwashed the car myself anyway)

The handbook for my TF states "NEVER use an automatic car wash unless a hard-top is fitted."
