Mgtf 2003 over heating

Hi I have a MG TF 2003 cool blue, It started to over heat and was diagnosed with the dredded head gasket fault.....this was repaired (skimmed), new water pump, cam belt, thermostat and has had a co2 block test which has shown there is no issue with the head gasket.

My car is still over heating BUT it does not over heat everyday and it goes on the same journey (30 miles on motorway). My mechanic is now at a loss as to what could be the issue with it.

Please help or can anyone suggest a MG Rover mechanic near to Doncaster that could help.

Garages

Did they fit a new coolant cap? If not then I would do so.

I do wonder if the thermostat was the correct one, 2003 was the change over from a conventional thermostat to one that also opens with pressure (known as PRT). It has been known for cars fitted with the later type to have the older type also fitted by well meaning but misguided garages.

The other thought is that there is still air in the coolant system, there are 3 bleed points and all need to be used.

Sadly the OP is very unlikely to see your reply, he/she hasn't logged on since April 2013...
