You can make a scene like Ben Hur, but instead of horses to pull the chariot, you'll have MGF/TF

Once you admit to having a problem it gets easier, apparently.

I think you need one in each colour made. I'll leave it to someone else to list them...

Well the F sold and the couple who bought it came to collect. Not good first impression. Battered, scruffy looking 04 Pug 307 which was in need of a clean inside and out. They were buying it for the wife, who 'Fancied a soft top for Summer'. The fact that neither of them understood the difference between the F and TF didn't bode well and I had sort of decided that I didn't think they would be good owners. When the guy started to try and knock the price down, that was it. I wasn't selling to them and persuaded them that maybe this wasn't the car for them. He was a bit grumpy about ME wasting HIS time, even though he was the one arguing about price.
In the end we agreed to cancel the transaction and they drove off into the sunset, hopefully never to be seen again.
Perhaps it was a sign!
Now, do I re-list, that is the question.

Depends on how badly you want to sell, I guess. I appreciate that we all get attached to our cars, but come sale time, the only thing that really matters is price - if you feel you can get what you want for it, I wouldn't be bothered to whom I sold it to or what they did with it. Of course, in an ideal world, enthusiasts would snap up every MGF/TF for sale and keep them on the road and cherished - unfortunately, the world doesn't work that way and we often have to cut our losses and move on.

Tough decision, really. If keeping her is totally out of the question, you need to decide which is more important to you - the money or how the car lives out the rest of its days............

It could have been the car they used for running around and taking the dog for walks, and one she was happy driving while he drove your car home, she not liking driving the Roller........

And how many people really know the difference between the F and TF, I didn't when I started.

This says to me that you don't really want to sell.

i go with your sentiment - silvascoop.. but i hope you didnt see the last possible buyer.. and i think its the wrong sentiment for a seller to have..

in effect if you have decided to sell, and you could sell it to someone who knows all there is to know about F`s and TF`s, and think the offered buying price is right, and they look and sound the right people, to YOU... etc etc.. and yet.. you wont know they drive your ex car into the ground, do nothing to it.. and use it like a trash can.. eventually breaking it up for parts

just because you think or dont think the buyer is the right buyer .. means nothing... you have decided to sell... what happens to the car after that isnt any concern of yours anymore..

it shouldnt be.. you draw the line when you decide to sell.. if you dont.. you wont sell it..

Yeah....all good points guys.
Sometimes it's easier to be clear when your outside the situation. I guess I'm just too attached to the F, having spent so much time and effort bringing it back to life as it were. Like wanting your daughter to marry Mr Right.

I think that there is no harm in try and selling to someone that you like.

You don t have control over the car once sold, but you HAVE control on the car that is still yours.

So: if you feel so much better selling the car to a perceived MG enthusiast and not to a couple that probably don t even care what make and type is, as long as is convertible: do it.

I'd love to have a lathe, looking for an ML7 at the moment, but would need to sort out the space issue first.

Why not rent a garage, sorn the F during the winter?

I wish I could afford to rent space somewhere, would help out no end, but sadly the cost is prohibitive. The ML8 takes up virtually half the garage and that will have to go as well, but it was my dads....and I plan to restore it....

I think you need to add a bit more colour to your collection. Would you like to buy a Le mans green TF160?

I'm with you Silva. I'd prefer to sell my TF to someone who cares.

Having said that of course, if they don't care, it won't last them two minutes.....and it will be their own fault.

Unhappy It's Gone !

Well providence smiled on me. I re-listed the car and it sold and the guy rang me to arrange collection. He had owned an F back in the day and sounded pretty knowledgable. He just came round to collect it and we went out for a drive, my first and probably last time as a passenger in the car, and his driving was good and suited the car.
He was about 50 or so and had a couple of other cars, so I was happy the F would be in good hands and not thrashed as a daily drive, but it will be used.
He promised me that he would look after it and I'm sure he will.
So, it's gone and I'm sad.
Time for a pint.

Smile Only the TF now...

...so, shall I treat it to a Re-Map?
Is it worth it? What difference should I expect?
Thoughts guys please.
