Roof/window leaks...

Another job done on the new TF today!.

In heavy rain water would drip down the inside of the passenger window!.

As you can see from the first pic below its easy to see why!!!..

Had a similar leak on the old `F` and same cure applied to the TF if its any help to anyone!.
In the first pic it looks like the window is out of line as its not pushing against the screen seal as it should, but instead going over the side creating the gap!.

The problem is caused by the seal on the corner of the screen/roof bending in and down as the seal locating peg loosens and bends, so not pushing the seal against the window.... hence the gap!.

The cure is to remove the hood clamp bracket (screen), then pull away this seal....... its then a case of lifting the seal and re-locating the peg fully in its hole, this should bring the seal `out and up` to meet the top of the window!........ a small adjustment of the hood clamps was also needed to eliminate a tiny remaining gap!

You can see the difference it makes in the second pic!!

Sounds good Pete!.

Am fitting a new interior either over this weekend or next week depending on work!..

Changing most of the interior stuff so will take some piccies if you wish for a `how to` type thing if that helps!.

yeah, anything Mark. There was 'talk' of such a section on here, but no sign of it ever happening . I'm don't intend to cover existing stuff, I'll just get permission from the orginator to supply a link.

That's my bible when I'm trying to fox my MR2. If a new fix is posted on the forums, anyone can submit that post to the "Know your 2" section for a modrator to edit and pubish.

I'm shocked that this website doesn't have one.

Clicking the link came up as 'access denied' I'm afraid....guess they can sense us F/TFrs who don't also have an MR2 at 100 cyber-paces!

Sorry for pulling up, but:

Thanks Mark !!!
What a useful tip, almost repositioned the hole seal and worked a treat, makes my F so less noisier and I have a good feeling in general now. Did the cheater and windows adjustment a few months back, so this was the "i-dapple" (i-tüpfelchen, maybe not translatable) ......

Worth every minute to do that, also Curgy's tip ref. the cantrail seals (loosen little nut, pulling seal toward a-frame, closing nut) was great !!!

Danke Mark and James

I think I have the exact same problem - so before I go chasing my tail this weekend taking the door apart I'd love to see if my MGF is doing the same as yours!

Thanks

Thank god

How glad am I that this thread is on here, just bought an older TF and cannot get good seal on passenger side with hood up. Its as if Cantrail seal forces window out at top.

I have done all the window adjustment and cheater adjustment

any chance of a link to curby's thread ref cantrail adjustment with little nut.........

Obviously I am well behind the drag curve, glad I am not alone though, this forum is a godsend.

I found this thread and I think this could solve my problem, but I was hoping that someone could help and explain a little (maybe with a photo) as I am not sure which clamp I have to remove or tighten (the one on the front window screen or the one on the hood).

The problem is that the LH window has a leak when the hood is really wet and soaked so the drops from the corner of the ood find their way into a tiny corner opening of the window-to-door seal. The RH side has not any problems. I have taken photos of the corner of the hood from both sides, if somebody can advise on this. The first one is the LH with the problem and the second one is the RH where there is no problem.
