Is it time to replace Frnt Ball joints

When I drive into my garage the front suspension on the MGF gives a clunk. I have already replaced the front hubs and bearings with new uprated Lotus Elise units about 1000Km ago. My mate said that sounds like ball joints Peter. If that is the case then the MGTF also makes the same clunk driving over the same lip. The garage lip is less than 50mm high. If I am buying balljoints are they upper or lower and is there any difference between the MGF and MGTF ball joints?

jack the car up and grap the wheel at 12 and 6 oclock and try to move it / rock it if it moves you have your answer , if still unsure remove the wheel and stick a bar in where it will move the hub and you should be able to see if it moves or not.
some times a clunk is just a clunk and nothing is wrong but without looking you will never know , or it could just be the lip your going over is loose if it has anything covering it or an insert on it / in it .

Maybe worth checking the drop links as they can cause a clunk as well

Have you greased the inboard pivots on the upper arm?
The front balljoints are common to both.

Wink

One that throws people.....make sure the spare wheel is secured, if it bumps about under the bonnet, just sound like the suspension is knocking!
