Well I finally bought one!

looks like I am now an mgf owner at last! A ferrari red (well I call it that colour) Found out about the hgf the hard way after only 1 day, cut a long story short having new gasket, rail and prt thingy fitted this week, as well as having suspension pumped up as wife and i nearly lost all our teeth after driving only 10 miles, which is the total distance I have driven the car, can't wait till friday to pick it up and enjoy all the benefits of the mgf. on a different subject hope she can stand the drive to Zante next year for another season of fun in the sun.

At least when you get it back, you shouldn't have to worry about the gasket - just enjoy it.

My F decided to have HGF just after I bought it as well, although with just some oil and water mixing it kept running till it was fixed.

Post some photos when you get a chance.

You hear of quite a few peeps having probs as soon as they buy the car... makes you wonder about the sellers

Bet you can't wait to pick it up now and begin ownership all over again happy in the knowledge that the worst has already happened and been fixed

Yep it does - when I got mine I put it straight in for a service, lucky I did as the water pump was shot.

Congrats on the purchase anyway.

Well hopefully won't have to have it skimmed too, noticed no water in coolant tank and creamy sludge on dipstick, when I topped up the water there was lots of oil in water, no overheating or oil temp rise though so hope I caught it before any real nasties happened. Not a member so don't think I can attatch pics

Certainly does. Although in my case the sellers had looked after the car extremely well with history to prove. Ok you can never judge a person 100% but I doubt they would have known of any problem. I suspect it was the lack of use through the winter (on SORN) then a sudden long drive home that may have done it.

Mine was the same, no overheating which was a blessing.

You would need to put the photos onto photo bucket or similar and then link them on the thread here.
