These cars were at the Melbourne Motor Show. I know Lotus and MG, are and were, on different tracks, but what a car.

Anyone driven one of these beasts?

If the new MG looked like that I reckon Lotus might have something to say about it

Nice car, How come no brilliant sunshine or setting sun Ron?

I wonder if those spots will fit in the grill of a F.

id love one of those but i just cant justify it....between them and the likes of VX220s

VX220 is a rebodied lotus with an astra engine in it....so its smaller than an astra, with less seats, no air con, no electric windows...just the engine from it but yet it costs more.

Its the same with the lotus, you look at it, the seats are thin as anything, workout windows etc. You end up paying more for less

heart always says yes, head says you can get 5 seats more luxuries for less money

why are these cars soooo expensive. All they are is a small nimble chassis with next to nothing in them to save weight....an engine from a larger car. Yet these cost more.

They do offer slighly more driving excitement than an Astra LS with air-con though.

I was thinking more along the lines of getting an Astra GSI/VXR for less than the VX220 Turbo.

Where you can either have leather racaros, electric windows, aircon, a fast car, with 5 seats

or

same engine, same wheels, workout windows, seats with next to no padding, 3 less seats, no boot space and pay more for it as well as insurance costine more

Dont get me wrong, id love an exige. I just cant see why the likes of an elise/VX220 etc is as expensive when its basically a small chassis, lacking goodies to save space and weight, with the engine bunged in from another model

Blistering trackday tools Marsh, plus they are produced in smaller volumes and use bespoke components.

body panels, chassis and suspension aside.....everythings ripped from other models. Except for the cheap ass seats and shockingly bare dashboards

The VX220 is soo much more tempting because theres a particulary low mileage spoofed up astra engine i know of

Easy - They are UGLY!!!!!!!

I'd love one for a track car, but to be seen in one on the roads - tasteless. Lotus have always made quirky cars, but the latest Elise and Exige are plain mingers.

Boyfriend took one round Silverstone last year, great car but sooooo impractical. You really need to be a very slim midget to have any chance of getting in and out.

Anyone remember Clarkson from TopGear getting into a Lotus, I laughed so hard a little pee came out .
