Wonky window woes

My driver's side window is playing up - just wondering if you lot have any advice for me before I go at it with the hammers this weekend.

The window rattles when driving, and when I lower it the rear end drops suddenly by about half an inch so the window's at an angle and very loose. It stays at this angle when closing until the last moment when it makes an almighty clunk and pops back into position.

I'm going to have the door card off at the weekend to investigate but, as usual, I'm very short of time and won't be able to do this anywhere within reach of the forum - so I'm trying to be prepared! Is there an obvious culprit to be looking for here? Does anyone have a photo with the door card off that clearly shows the window components in their correct positions?

I always preferred manual winders on car windows...

CJJ did a how to on window adjustment that has some pretty good pictures.

CJJ's window adjustment guide

There are also some useful information here.

My drivers side window is pretty bad too so I'll be using this information myself pretty soon.

Thanks - I'll add these to the pages I have printed out to take with me when I tackle this. Beats any Haynes manual!
