Can't open bonnet

I have a problem with my bonnet release. The small lever down the right hand side of the driver is not flush and tight (like it used to be) but is loose (and has no effect when pulled). The bonnet is closed tight and I have no idea how to get it open. This happened a few months back after my last service so I took it back and they sorted it (I'm not sure what they done though). Can anyone tell me how to open the bonnet and/or what is causing this problem.

Thanks in advance

Mark

Edit: It's a Rover 75 Conn 2.0D

Bonnet pull

For security reasons this info is usually only aval. from a moderator.
After opening bonnet :-
The common problem lies in the 'one into two junction box attached to the offside wing under the bonnet. There is a slide block that the 3 cable nipples slot into inside the casing.
Re-insert dislodged cable nipple, then make sure the slide block is replaced inside the casing with the '3 nipple side of the slider' facing the case, not the wing. Lubricate and replace.
Oh yes, the case is detached by pressing in centre, top & bottom, to release the clips that pass through holes in the wing

Mark, I had exactly the same problem in Aug just after I bought the 75. The pull lever was slack and the bonnet would not open.It was sugested that the front grill might have to be destroyed to gain access to the two locking plungers to release it. However with one man pushing up and down on the bonnet while I operated the lever the bonnet sprung open. the problem was the plastic housing under the bonnet where the pull cable joins the two cables that operate the locking plungers. the housing is too flexible for the job and the pull cable almost comes out of its location. I used a small bridge piece ,held on by self tapping screws, across the open U section. This made the unit more rigid and I have had no further trouble. However if you cant get the bonnet open to do the repair you may need a body shop, wilson21.
