Just heard on the radio that the new MG6 is starting to be built at Lonbridge today ( Wed 13th April ) where will they be sold ? direct from the factory or are new MG outlets going to be opened ?

I had a Honda ZS so the fact that an MG may look japanese doesn't worry me at all :p

I don't think it looks like a toyota at all though, Most modern cars are starting to look quite similar these days due to having to build them around safety guidelines, It's not as striking as the mk1 focus or Audi TT were when first launched but compared to a lot of new car designs these days i don't think it's too bad and stands out compared to Toyota's latest efforts. Once they build a fast version with a body kit i think some people will change their minds.

For me, its more to do with how a car drives and from what i hear the 6 is a pretty good performer in that area and with the new focus going soft it should have a market :)

I won't be looking at buying a new car any time in the near future though so my opinion won't help them sell even one :p

This should be in the MG6 section really. it is a shame that the 6 is getting the bashing it has been on here in general, not to mention the MG3 and now the MG5.

MG are starting fromt he ground up, they are producing more modern and mainstream cars, they have to do this to survive, they cant build outdated models and keep retro looks, it simply is not viable.

Much as I loved my 75, Simon is spot on. It would be nice to think that a manufacturer could survive by providing cars for what is realistically a niche market. The truth is that Euroboxes sell in millions (take a look next time you're in a supermarket), whilst cars with individual style and shapes sell in thousands. Like everything else nowadays, cash and profit is God. Any new car which retains the old style and class will cost you over 50 grand (if you can find one)
