When i bought my 1.8T (ultra low 25k) the cooling fan used stay on for few seconds after switched off (never did that on my old 1.8T)
Started loosing water
Couple months later cylinder head gasket blew to the tune of £550

It's been OK for few weeks until last night when the dreaded cooling fan came after i pulled in the drive

1/ I need to get some coolant/anti-freeze in quick (haven't got time to shopp around), what do Tesco or Halfords sell that's suitable

2/ I am also putting some K-Seal in (i can't afford another £550) - anyone had any experience with this - best methods?

The good news is when i drove it to work this morning and switched off - no fan blissssssssssssss

Dumped a can of it in my 45 2 weeks ago after doing the head gasket. Seems to be working nicely, as the liners on mine had moved slightly.

Do read the can first which says shake vigoriously for 30sec before dumping it in, rather than the reverse then having to stir vigoriously !

As for the antifreeze/anti corrosion inhibitor.
OAT is recommended. Its main claim to fame is longer service life. I have, from practical experience, got to the point, that I realize there is no way that I will get 4 years of uninterupted service from my cooling system, so for me, this feature is not worth paying for.
In stead I use normal antifreeze, which has served millions of people over the years fine, at a fraction of the cost.
I have recently had one engine opened, and it was clean as a whistle inside. Just remember that the service life of this type is about 2 years.
But you can use it with confidence.

As for the addition of k-seal. Go for it. I don't claim it will cure HGF, but it certainly sorted my leaks past the liners out.!
