I have since topped it up with another 0.2 of a litre.
The thing is I trust british legends advice as he really seems to know his stuff.
The guy who runs it is an ex MGRover tech who specialises mostly with MGTFs etc and also does trackday preparation. He drives a monogram ZS180 himself.
Having done lots of oil changes on the K16. You may well trust his advice, but in this instance he is completely incorrect.
Experience has shown it to take 4.5 litres and the manufacturer also agrees.
Fill it until it reaches the max mark. If it is on flat ground and the filter has been changed it will take pretty much spot on 4.5 litres. 4 litres is correct if the filter isn't changed, but thats another rip off story.
I would agree with Stu, from emptying the engine fully, its usually taken me around the 4.5 stated but definitely not the 4l he said. Maybe he was rounding to 4 or just didnt bother removing the sump nut to get the remainer .5 out of there?
mine took almost exactly 4 litres as i just dropped and changed oil and filter, so some old oil will still be clinging to the insides of the engine.
but if the engine is flushed properly then it'll take 4.5 as the block and sump will be completely empty.
anyone else had their oil come out looking like smooth branston pickle? mine did... probably the HGF oil and general rubbish.
plan to redo in a couple of weeks to get more cack out of the block.
why did i buy shell oil for this one? :slap:
Did you bother undoing the sump nut or that just something I do cos Im an idiot?
