just looking to see if anyone has bought this kit and wether they are happy with it before i fork out the readies, also would be grateful if anyone knows of alternatives (checked out the vhs kit but i think £340+vat is abit pricey). If some of the members kits are close to fruition i could hold off and buy one of them.
It wasn't a case of not being able to deliver more a case of legal questions being asked about the legal side in the event of a failure so I decided to give it a miss rather than get involved with future issues of blame
The set on my own car have been declared to my insurance and have now passed at least two MOT's with exceptional braking results over the standard set-up however they will not be produced for sale or the specification given out just encase this could also come back as liability of fault
HiSpec will sell you either the larger discs and brackets to mount the standard calipers or larger disks and a pair of their 4pot calipers with handbrake mech and correct mounting bracket... not cheap though but no more moody calipers.
Try BG Developments, who have 280mm rear floating rotors for the MGF, developed for John Reed Racing (who sadly appears to have disappeared). I have these discs to fit on Project Shed - obviously not tried them yet - but hopefully soon!
If the rear setup is in good order I can't see why an upgrade would be needed. Mine are just fine. Ok so the disks look a little lost behind the 16 inch wheels.
Having tried a reasonably crude brake upgrade, the increase in braking power is unbelievable.
The TF160 is severely underbraked at the rear and the calipers also don't help as they just degrade over time and either don't brake enough or bind on.
I think with 4 pots at the rear, APs at the front and properly set up, it will be like throwing an anchor out the back.
I am a firm believer that you don't need all that braking power day to day, if ever. But, if there is ever one time you need it then it is an investment worth paying.
I would rather look back at the wasted money rather than the broken body of a child wondering why I hadn't done it.
You don't have to be doing daft speeds for you, or others, to benefit from upgraded braking.
If a lorry pulled out 30ft in front of me, I would rather stop in 25ft than 50ft. :dunno:
That’s not difficult is it? And not to costly either. Go Jap. The brakes will pull your face off and the boost will put it back on again.
This worries me though, Is the MG that unsafe that it needs better bakes and a front splitter to be stable at speed. That said maybe it was aimed at Hairdressers. Still like mine though..
I'm toying with making up some brackets to be able to use ZS 180 rear calipers on the back with standard F front discs , my main problem is finding a set Of Zs calipers to play with ( I've had a goof look at the pair I have but there attached to the rear of my Zs :lol
i have contacted all of the companies mentioned in this thread, some havn't replied, tarox replied stating they do not currently do a kit for the rear of the mgf so it looks like hi-spec or vhs, as the kits are very similar i am opting for the cheaper hi-spec 280mm kit and soon as i've got it fitted i will post my thought's. I have ap's up front, ebc slotted and dimpled discs back and front with mintex pads, braided hoses and dot 5.1 fluid my tf also has anti-lock brakes, i don't think there's much wrong with the stopping power but looking for better balance.

Just got a quote from HiSpec for 280/10 discs with Billet 4 SVA calipers, brackets, hoses, pads and fluid for £770.
