Car ordered!!! Now the big question - stripes or no stripes?!

The deed is done - I've ordered my new car. Now I need to;

a) find someone to love my MG TF Aphrodite, and

b) decide on whether to have stripes added to the new car and if so, what colour?!

I can't drag myself away from my much loved colour combination, the same one as Aphrodite....

The new car is a MINI One in metallic black. I've gone for chrome mirror caps instead of body coloured ones and the interior is black and red! The dealer very kindly threw in the Rooster Red sports seats for nothing!

I love stripes on MINIs and my dealer has told me they can add them when they pdi the car before collection.

So...

The dealer suggested red viper stripes - I'm worried that it may look a bit vampish?! Another option is silver which would go with the chrome mirror caps...and then there's the type of stripe...down the middle or the ones that go from the inside of the lights slightly diagonally towards the windscreen...

.......or........

Do I leave my new car naked?!!!

Cheers Pat...!!! Or maybe not!

Wish the lovely mods had left this in Gen chat though....I do know that there are specific forums for specific threads but I am not asking about the spec of the car, I wanted to ask my Gen Chat friends about a style question..............in fun!!! So pretty, pretty please can it be moved back?! I just wanted some friendly banter....other threads have been posted in Gen Chat about cars (Steven Norfield's thread re his new car, a BMW, Keny P's thread about Landrover purchase...etc etc etc) so why why why does my silly banter stripes thread get moved....???!

Especially when it should presumably have gone here if not there...and not in the place it's in...

http://forums.mg-rover.org/forumdisplay.php?f=158

I agree it's a style question and not a technical one. So I think it would be better in General Chat too.

Can someone photoshop the choices?

Monochrome-no stripes-take it, as it is.

silver is more subtle Andie, possibly a bit more in keeping when turning up at wedding shoots, altho red would be good if doing a car shoot

if the stripes are dealer fit, could you have them added on later?

I would say silvery would go better with black...

Another vote for silver stripes here Andie, they look very tasteful on a black Mini.

Re your choice of car - going by our experience - you'll love it!

I guess youve gone for metallic black Andie? If its available, my vote would be for matt black viper stripes. Not sure how it would look against the chrome mirrors?

Thanks guys! Appreciated...

I do feel it deserves to have stripes - hadn't thought of matt black!

The stripes will be added after delivery so I could collect the car and then see how I feel...

Re this thread...I'm still at a loss as to why my taste/style thread can't stay in Gen Chat - I wanted to know peoples opinions on this regarding style, its not about a car model exactly, its about colours of stripes on a specific colour car - when there are lots of threads that are about car makes that are still in General Chat............does someone dislike me???!!!!

Gun metal grey would work well with Black, subtle enough not to stand out too much but enough of a change to know they are there....

If it had a toned down interior, I'd go toned down stripes. But the interior's red, and you've added chrome. Go mad, embrace the liveliness and go for red stripes. Can't go wrong with red and black.

How about chrome stripes? To match the chrome mirrors?

Heres another idea:

Why not cancel the order and get something else?!!!!!!

Lol. Not a fan of the new Mini's. Only decent one i've seen is an FHM custom paint jobby, and... well...

Anyway, the Gun Metal Grey would look good on one with out as much chrome.
Silver stripes might look a bit ott with Chrome detailing. (and not in a good way)
White stripes would stand out too much, but would look good with less chrome and more black features.
Red might be the best option, at least it'll match some interior trim :P

If anyone is good with photoshop, here's a Midnight Black MINI One to play with:

Really good getting the feedback, guys. I just think she looks a bit naked and needs some dressing up with stripes! So...if someone could photoshop viper stripes in red, matt black (?!) and gunmetal grey on that pic I'd be very grateful!

And RicWin - too late to cancel! After almost 7 years of MG TF ownership, its time for a change...!

Oh, just to add, she will have a bit more exterior chrome and foglights as she'll have the pepper pack plus chrome mirrors.
