Body Coloured Mirrors

I have a 214SLi in Platinum Silver, '95 on an M. It's got body coloured bumpers, but I want to paint the mirrors the same colour. I saw a Coupe following me with Body Coloured mirrors, and it seemed as if it had covers to go over the indented bit (does that make sense?). Can I get covers that I can paint first, or am I going to have to do some careful masking. I don't want the whole mirror silver, cos that would just look tacky.

On a similiar note, I keep seeing people asking about colours codes, how about listing the common colour codes from the egnine plate, along with the actual name of the paint colour somewhere on the site.

Common colour? what would you call a common colour??
Your code is on the plate on the passenger side. You cannot buy the panels in your colour anymore i'm affraid, unless you want to pay for the entire wing mirror unit too - as they have clips on them to attach to the wingmirror. I got mine form Jonnycoupe for 10 and sprayed em myself then glued them to the OE wing mirror.

Thanks, now I know there are panels for this. By the way, who is Jonnycoupe? Did a google search, and no results, is this a generous person you know, 10 sounds cheap 2 me. Can I just pull some off a GTi (at the scrappers) or will they have clips to cut off?
