Horn doesnt work after steering wheel swap

Hello, I have changed my old NON AIRBAG steering wheel(its the one with big rounded horn button in the middle) for newer one with airbag(both R8s) and now the horn doesnt work.Whats the difference, why the horn doesnt work ? Have anyone some experience with that ?

cheers

If you installed steering wheel with airbag I suppose you needed to change rotary coupler as well? Now you have more wires from steering wheel then before.
How you connected new wires to existing loom in the steering column?

the new wheel is airbag type but it has no airbag, its empty...so i supposed the rotary coupler its not neccesarry..but i saw some connectors on it..maybe this is the problem..i have changed everything from donnor car (plastics, indicators), except r.coupler. it was very dark and i was hurry
So you think the coupler is needed ?? I can put one connector IN,but my car has no airbag yellow wiring loom so i dont have OUT connector if you understand me ? Im little bit confused, sorry

You need to find how old horn was connected, and then you will need to modify new wires to the old system. My problem is that I do not know how old was connected, as I did not have one to play with.

ok I will find it out..
btw i found this:

Well i fitted a air bag wheel to a non airbag 216,you will need the column shroud the complet airbag and the yellow wiring loom, then a small bit of wiring for the horn buttons to work because the non airbag horns work on a scraper contact on a copper ring at the base of the wheel while the airbag wheel uses the yellow clock spring component behind the wheel to connect the horn buttons to the main wiring.
Sounds complicated but straight forward and the rover airbag will fit an MG wheel as long as they look the same shape.

its straight forward..hmm,I wonder i will try it tommorow

Thanks Roverlike !!
