Rover 800 sells for 10k on ebay!

In case you did not see this Rover 827 MK I on ebay, it SOLD for just shy of 10k!

ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING ROVER 800 Mk 1 827 Si FASTBACK JUST 9,000 mls FROM NEW
(please click on 'see original listing' on the ebay page to see all the pics)

The doctor 102 has dealt in a lot of similar 1 owner classics (of all makes and models) on ebay most of which seem to fetch high prices. Their cars are always very clean, photo'd in their nice location and in the sun, but the ads seem to be filled with so much waffle trying to sell you the dream that 'this is the one you would choose' 'in this spec' 'and colour' etc, that I never read them. I doubt many people will come up with the same option for their first choice but would indeed like it anyway, who wouldn't. and it just goes to show that good examples can command good prices.

Hopefully it will go to a collector who will preserve it, or an owner that will cherish it, that's if the buyer pays up though / is genuine though! and not a friend bidding! as they may have just been jacking the price up! My golden rule of ebay is to never buy anything via a 2nd chance offer! all could be genuine, we may never know.

Anyway it's good to know, that Rover's are becoming better appreciated now, 2 cars I had have gone into private collections. I am now down to my Coupe and hope to sell that soon. Might get it on ebay whilst the market is hot!

Mint car but looking at the bid history there are two bidders who are obviously friends of the seller.

Crazy money. I'd agree with Charlzy that the bidding's sus, so let's see if it gets relisted.

Yes a totally unreal price I feel. I am sure I had seen the car on carandclassic recently, so maybe it is just being punted around by various people trying to make a quick

As that appears to be the only bid placed by that bidder, was the day before the auction ended, and it was retracted less than 10 minutes after being placed and no other bids in between, I would say it was someone looking to see what the current winning bidder had placed as his maximum bid. It wasn't a shill bid, because it was retracted before it had any influence on the outcome of the sale.

There are a couple of other bidders whose behaviour an 30 day bid history might make one wonder if they were the seller under another ID, but even so there is nothing conclusive to indicate a shill.

As was said earlier, it remains to be seen whether the winning bidder actually pays up.

the old carandclassic ad just popped up in front of me! here is the original sellers ad; (before the doctor102 bought it, cleaned it and added all that waffle!)

Rover Enthusiasts & Collectors Dream (1989)

and feedback left fot it (30-Jan-2017): "Received interest immediately advert was posted. First person to enquire bought."

can't find price though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was around the 1500 mark.
