MG Montego Turbo

As i've had a lot of positive comments about my MG Montego EFi I thought I would show you one of my other projects.
This was bought partially stripped and to teach my youngest 'how to' put one together
As bought in Feb 2011

The old wiring loom had burnt out so that was the first thing replaced. Trim was scattered all over the barn. Door handles replaced, but these will now be replaced again with red ones, Boot finished off

There's still plenty to do but it's slowly getting there. It's a bit of a jigsaw puzzle and my stash of nuts, bolts, screws etc is gradually going down.
Hoping to put the petrol tank and all piping on next complete with replacement exhaust.
The only real modification will be an electric sunroof that my sons wants, luckily enough I have 3 spare.
The car has cost very little so far to do.
The car was 240 including delivery, the donor was 60 and it was delivered by a friend at no cost, I got back 30 for the scrapped Montego shell so it's only 270 so far and I have a stash load of Turbo parts left over including and engine, gearbox, turbo etc

Loving it mate, my kind of project, the donor looked like it had been sat for a while but like you say it was full of bits to use, do you have a list of what you need as we may be able to sort you out, E_T_V may be able to help you out too.

Keep the updates coming fella, I love em'.

Thanks mate
I have everything I need from either the donor car or my stash of spares so it won't cost anymore than the 270 spent on it.

I've just picked up another boot full of new spares from a friend who was emptying out his garage so the space I got from emptying my stash for this car and my digidash has now been filled.

Found some time to work on the day yesterday but it was 2 steps forward 3 steps back. Nothing went right
Hadn't noticed before but the front panel had the centre part cut off so the front bumber had to come off. ALL the bolts were siezed solid but eventually won through. Straight through exhaust was removed including the LOUD rear box, the front downpipe was also removed as it was not at it's best but in doing so 2 studs snapped on the turbo exhaust elbow so that had to come off. When trying to connect the throttle car I noticed that it had been cut, no idea why so I had to replace that. Lost one of the boost pipes and couldn't find my fuel pipe that i had bought to replace the petrol tanks fuel pipes so that didn't go on. Re-wired the fuelpump as the wiring again had been cut and attached a replacement fuel pump.

Left to do
Replace 2 studs on the turbo flange and re-connect
Fit complete exhaust from my spares
Find my lost petrol pipe and attach the petrol tank, pipe to fuel filler pipe and attach fuel filler pipe.
Attached all HT leads
Find my lost boost pipe
Attach replacement bonnet
Attach replacement front panel
Re-attach front lights etc, grill
Re-connect carb
Put petrol in it
Connect battery and see what happens with fingers crossed
IF its goes etc, put the dash in,
Connect both front door electrics, connect a few wires, check to see if all works.
Do headlining
Put front carpet and front seats in
Hopefully should be done then and ready for its MOT

Bring them all lol !

On the bottom of the rear door car I spotted a vent and some kind of a blank next to the right of it, would that be for a standard fit interior light ?

As a matter of interest, this is what Monty Turbo D155 JME looked like in previous ownership with a personal plate on it :~

The dash in it was removed from my 1990 Montego EFi which was not cracked or split.

That was about ten years ago. Be nice if it ever returns to that sort of condition.

EDIT to add ...

Or, am I confusing it with another car? ...
