That was about ten years ago. Be nice if it ever returns to that sort of condition.

EDIT to add ...

Or, am I confusing it with another car? ...

Maybe one of those others. I had five at one time. Can't keep 'em all on the go. Now have just the one.
Completely different car John I'm afraid, that's a facelift and was scrapped a few years ago as it was rotten. Thomas had it from the Isle of Wight when he found out it wasn't any good anymore

More bodges found from the last owner that i'm having to fix on the way. Noticed the grub screw wasn't in properly as it had been cross threaded,

Thanks

Carb now on, crossthread now fixed.
All sorted to see what happens when petrol in. Put some in the tank and put some down the carb, turn over and..............................nothing. No spark at all.
Change coil, nothing, change ignition ecu, nothing.
will have to use my fast check and volt meter on Friday next week to find out why no spark.
also the starter motor is 'clicking' when turning the engine over as is the relay, don't know why atm
Possible earthing problems as I re-wired the whole car.

Now replaced the crank sensor.
Had to remove the carb, heat shield, air filter housing, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold just to get to the crank sensor.
All changed, all back on and now starts when I poor petrol down the carb.
Next job it to get it to prime and the fuel pump to work. Turbo's use the oil switch to prime so I may have to change that next but will put more petrol in the tank first.
Also fixed the 'clicking' when starting it, I hadn't done up the earth lead on the offside front enough.

A few things done since the last update
Now starts on the button after 6 years dormant. This is without the plenum, boost pipes on so the turbo is a bit noisy atm. Smoke is old oil being burnt off

Dash now completely in, new tyres and metrics now on, Steering wheel on, cowl on, all electrics now working, finally off axle stands after over a year. All internal plastic grey trim found and ready to put on.
It's still a jigsaw as I have to search for every nut, bolt and screw to put on the car, but finally showing progress as it now runs, very happy when it started on the button

Left to do
Interior
Re-trim centre consol with red carpet and put in car
Front seat belt stalks
All front grey plastic trim
Front seats
Radio
All door cards
Replace sunroof with electric
Headlining.

Under bonnet
Attach auto choke
Attach plenum
Attach boost pipes etc
Attach heat shield
Attach carb rods

Other
Fix brakes
Source rear exhaust box
Attach offside door mirror

Test drive it up the road
